Duanwu Festival

Duanwu Festival is one of the three most important national festivals in China. It occurs on the fifth day of the fifth month of Chinese lunar canlendar. This festival can be dated back to thousands of years ago. It is widely believed that a patriot poet called Qu Yuan who lived in 3rd-4th Century B.C. threw himself into a river on this very day after his homestate was conquered. This made Duanwu festival even more meaningful.

And five activities came from this: dragon boat racing, making zongzi, drinking realgar wine, wearing colour ropes and hanging artemisia.
