School trip in March

From March 19 to 22, 2026, 23 students from Hanyuan Chinese School embarked on a four-day, three-night immersive study expedition to Dunhuang, Gansu, traversing the historic Hexi Corridor. For the group, it marked their first encounter with this ancient artery of civilization connecting antiquity to the present. Amid the sweeping desert, rugged Gobi landscapes and age-old monuments, they transformed textbook history into tangible, transformative learning experiences.
Throughout the journey, we explored Mingsha Mountain and Crescent Lake, marvelling at its sublime natural splendour; ventured into the Mogao Caves to contemplate the timeless murals and painted sculptures, and absorb their profound artistic and human narratives; trod upon Yang Pass and Yumen Pass, evoking echoes of the Silk Road’s camel bells and frontier legacy; and ascended Jiayuguan Pass to witness the imposing grandeur of this ancient military stronghold.
Beyond cultural immersion, we savoured authentic regional delicacies—wild onion beef pastries and donkey meat yellow noodles—which infused the expedition with warmth and unforgettable memories.

Venturing beyond the classroom to engage with the world, Hanyuan Chinese School champions experiential, place-based learning. Our diverse study tours broaden horizons and foster cultural literacy. We eagerly anticipate welcoming new students to journey with us, explore vast landscapes, and cultivate a better version of themselves.
